Томас Ковиль начал погоню за мировым рекордом одиночного кругосветного плавания
Французский шкипер Томас Ковиль вчера на своем тримаране Sodebo Ultim длинной 31 и шириной 21 метр пересек условную линию между британским Лизардом и французским Уэсаном, чтобы попытаться установить рекорд одиночного кругосветного плавания.
Готовится выйти в океан и его принципиальный соперник и соотечественник – Франсуа Жойон.
Сейчас рекорд одиночного кругосветного плавания под парусом принадлежит Жойону и составляет 57 дней 13 часов и 34 минуты. Вернуться на место старта Ковиль, уже дважды пытавшийся превзойти достижение соотечественника, должен не позднее 04 часов и 57 секунд 3 января. Погодные условия пока благоприятствуют экстремалу — он идет с опережением графика, передает YR.
Жойон же сейчас со своей командой готовится начать попытку на своем 140-футовом тримаране Banque Populaire V побить другой рекорд, абсолютный, который составляет 45 дней 13 часов и 42 минуты.
